The Adafruit TLV320DAC3100 is an I2S DAC designed to deliver clean, excellent-quality stereo audio output through either stereo headphones or a mono speaker. It's particularly well-suited for compact, all-in-one audio projects where an external amplifier isn't needed, thanks to its built-in class-D speaker amplifier. This breakout board supports flexible power options: it can be powered with 3VDC when using headphones only, or 5VDC when driving a speaker. It interfaces with digital audio sources using I2S (requiring BCLK, WSEL, and DIN signals) and must be configured over I2C for proper audio playback. Microcontroller support is available via libraries for Arduino, CircuitPython, and Python, making it easy to integrate into a wide range of development platforms.
