This is DFRobot Gravity: Analog Sound Level Meter. DFrobot offers an advanced level of sensors at an affordable cost than any other competitor brand in the market, making them ideal for the one who wants to start some Projects through Different types of sensors. After finding Different types of sensors on the market, we at Elecvora. in have determined that DFrobot is one of the good brands that offer a wide range of sensors at an Appropriate price. This is an Arduino compatible sound level meter(also known as a decibel meter, noise meter). It uses an instrument circuit and low noise microphone, which enable it to accurately measure the sound level of the surrounding environment. It can be applied to environmental noise testing, such as highway noise monitoring stations, bedroom noise monitoring, etc. Nowadays, there are many kinds of sounds surrounding, some of which are really noisy. It is really essential to measure whether the sound is noisy enough to do damage to our health. The sound level meter (also known as the decibel meter, or noise meter) is a basic noise measurement instrument. We have launched a sound level meter, which is compatible with Arduino, plug-and-play. It can accurately measure the sound level of the surrounding environment. This product uses an instrument circuit, low noise microphone, which makes it highly precise. It supports 3.3~5.0V wide input voltage, 0.6~2.6V voltage output. The decibel value is linear with the output voltage, which leads to a simple conversion, without a complex algorithm. The connector is plug-and-play, without welding, so this product can be easily used in your application.

Interfacing Analog Sound Level Meter with Arduino:

DFRobot Gravity: Analog Sound Level Meter Attention: Attention: The black film on the microphone is a sensitive component, do not touch it with fingernails or other sharp objects. Do not place this module on the surface of the conductor or the semiconductor, otherwise, it will shorten the microphone’s pins. It is recommended to place this module on a dry insulator’s surface or fix it with nylon columns to hang in the air.

Features:

  1. High Precision: use instrument circuit, low noise microphone
  2. Wide Voltage Input:3.3~5.0V
  3. Simple Conversion: linear analog output, 0.6~2.6V linear correspondence 30~130dBA, no complex algorithm is required
  4. Easy to Use: plug and play, without soldering

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
